Musings on the color yellow and its significance

As I walked Buddy today, feeling the warmth of the sun on my skin and watching my yellow malas glisten in its light, I found myself reflecting on the color yellow and its profound significance in my life over the past few years.

Yellow has become more than just a color to me; it's a symbol of joy reclaimed. For much of my life, joy felt elusive and unsafe. I learned early on that vulnerability to joy often preceded disappointment or pain. It's taken a journey of self-discovery and healing to reintegrate joy into my life fully. One of my practices has been wearing yellow intentionally as a reminder to allow myself to feel joy. I used to say to myself, "I'm calling in the joy," but what I was really doing was affirming my true self—a light-hearted, joyful person who deserves to experience life's brightness without reservation.

In the realm of color theory, yellow is often associated with positivity, energy, and optimism. It's known to stimulate mental activity, encourage communication, and evoke feelings of happiness and warmth. Psychologically, yellow is uplifting; it can enhance mood and promote feelings of cheerfulness and spontaneity.

When I immerse myself in the color yellow, whether through my jewelry or in nature's hues, I feel joy bloom within me like a smile spreading across my cheeks. There's a warmth that radiates from my heart and soul, as if the sun itself is shining from within. I feel open, curious, and adventurous—a spirit unbound by fear or doubt. Yellow fills me with a sense of lightness, bubbling with possibilities and creative ideas.

In contrast, fear feels heavy and dark in my body. It shrinks me, making me feel small, cold, and isolated.

Embracing yellow has been a journey of transformation. It's not just about wearing a color; it's about reclaiming a state of being—a state of joy and openness to life's beauty and potential. The color yellow serves as a constant reminder to stay connected to this essence, to embrace my true nature, and to live authentically in the present moment.

As I continue to explore the significance of yellow in my life, I am reminded of its power to uplift and inspire. It's a beacon of light that guides me towards a fuller, more vibrant existence—a life infused with joy, creativity, and the courage to embrace all that life offers.
